If you're more fluent in a language other than English, try our new Chinese-German and Chinese-French dictionaries
MDBG is pleased to announce support for two more translation dictionaries. For users who are more fluent in German or French (or both), these free dictionaries will provide parallel definitions in Chinese Reader's LiveScan, HighlightScan and Main lists (Lookup, Favorites plus History). Version 6 of Chinese Reader Professional Edition supports up to three simultaneous, multi-lingual dictionaries. As shown above, you may have Chinese-French, Chinese-German and Chinese-English at the same time.
The Chinese-German dictionary helps you to understand Chinese using German definitions. Based on the HanDeDict dictionary, this translation provides 149,00 entries with over 180,00 definitions and 600 examples in traditional and simplified Chinese.
GermanThe Chinese-French dictionary is for you if you are fluent in French and want to understand and learn Chinese. Based on CFDict, this dictionary includes over 125,000 entries and definitions.

Chinese Reader Professional Edition supports both dictionary-based definitions and machine-based AutoTranslations. By using both German and English dictionaries, a single Chinese word (cheng gong) in the example above may be understood as success (in German or English) and the name of town in Taiwan. Machine-based translators from Bing or Google may help you gain a quick (and often erroneous and humorous) auto-translation of the highlighted text.
By supporting both dictionaries and translations, MDBG Chinese Reader provides the information you need to better understand the original Chinese text.
Chinese Reader provides several ways to explain and translate Chinese text:
Use your own words and definitions
Get Chinese-German, Chinese-French dictionaries
Use Google or Bing web services
Show translations in a web page
Search for Chinese words using Chinese (simplified or traditional), Pinyin or English
