Recently installed the reader on my laptop, running on windows vista
every chinese charactera appears as a "square" when i highlight the text on the "chinese reader - scan" popup. I can see the pinyin and the English translation but not the chinese.

Hi rio,
You need to install the Chinese fonts. MDBG has a set of free fonts. See http://mdbg.loqu8.com/free.htm and download AR PL New Sung Chinese Font.
If you still aren't seeing Chinese, let me know. |

| The pop up window shows squares instead of where the chinese characters should go. I am using Windows XP. I tried downloading the fonts, but what do i do with them? |

On Windows XP, you need to turn on Far East Asian language support and install the fonts. See page 16 and Appendix B of the User's Guide:

For Windows Vista and Windows 7 users, Far East Asian language support is already integrated into the operating system. |
