Get the power of Google Translate with the convenience of MDBG Chinese Reader's popup windows.
MDBG Chinese Reader draws upon its 100,000+ entry Chinese-English dictionary for the meaning of individual Chinese words. But what if you want a quick translation of a sentence or phrase? Using copy+paste to an online translator is possible, but highlighting text and using Chinese Reader's HighlightScan with MLX is faster and more efficient. Point to Chinese text in the window to see the details and nuances of each Chinese word or phrase.
For a limited time, Microsoft Bing Translator is available at no charge. For those who appreciate the quality of Google Translate, Chinese Reader now offers that selection. If both Bing and Google are checked, hover over each translation to show the name of the source. In the example above, the first translation ("The dollar rose sharply") is from Bing. The second translation ("RMB against the U.S. dollar sharply higher") is from Google.
Unlike Google's ad-supported websites, there is a service charge for accessing Google Translation service through their programming interfaces.
One credit is charged for every character (byte) that is sent to their service. This includes space, punctuation and symbols. For example, 1,000,000 credits corresponds to one million characters, spaces, punctuation and symbols.
Each time a request is processed, the HighlightScan window will show an activity. In the example at the top of the page, 10/23K credits means 10 credits were used out of approximately 23,000. Open the Settings dialog and see the actual number of credits and the expiration date. In the screen below, 23,144 credits will expire on November 8, 2012.

To purchase Google Translate service, open the Settings dialog and click "credits"
12 months of service (up to 1,000,000 credits) is only $30 USD. One credit is charged for each character (byte) send to Google's service.
