In the example above, the idiom haoi chi lan zuo is composed of 4 characters. Breakdown shows hao chi (tasty, delicious) as a compound word. This is also decomposed into hao (good) and chi (eat). The same characters, with hao pronounced differently, offers a different meaning (fond of eating).
